Private Label Reed Diffusers, Scented Candles & Room Sprays: Home Fragrance OEM Guide (UK & EU)
Reed diffusers, scented candles and room and linen sprays sell all year and spike at every gifting season. For a lifestyle brand, a private label home fragrance line is a strong way to grow average order value — the same signature scent across three products turns one purchase into a set. Here is how to plan it, especially if you sell into the UK or Europe.
Build the line around one scent story
- Reed diffuser (100–200ml): the hero gift product; glass bottle, fibre reeds and a carton.
- Scented candle (200–250g): soy or soy-blend wax in a glass jar with lid.
- Room & linen spray (100ml): the lowest price point and the entry product for new customers.
Start with around three scents — for example a fresh, a floral and a woody — and use them across every product. Choose from a fragrance library for speed, or brief a signature scent that belongs only to your brand.
MOQ and cost
- MOQ: typically around 1,000 pieces per scent for each product.
- Cost drivers: fragrance load and quality, glass weight and finish, and the carton. Ask for standard, premium and luxury tiers to compare.
- Timeline: roughly 45–60 days for a first order after artwork and scent approval; about 20 days for repeat orders.
UK and EU compliance: CLP labelling
Home fragrance products are regulated as chemical mixtures in the UK and EU, not as cosmetics. That means:
- CLP labels: hazard pictograms, signal words and precautionary statements where the fragrance requires them — especially common on reed diffusers.
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS): required for the finished product; your manufacturer should supply it along with the CoA.
- Candles: follow EN 15494 safety labelling and allergen declarations.
- UK/EU importer responsibilities sit with the brand or importer — plan who holds them before your first shipment.
Getting labels right the first time avoids reprinting cartons — ask your manufacturer to prepare CLP label information before artwork is final.
